The aim of the Center of Excellence BIOTECmarin (supported by BMBF, Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung), which involves research groups from several universities and research institutions under the coordination of Mainz University, is the development of commercializable products in the field of marine biotechnology (bioactive compounds from sponges and sponge-associated microorganisms).
